Emergency Housing

Residence Life offers emergency housing for currently enrolled students at Reed. Emergency housing is meant to be a short term resource (up to 72 hours) while long-term solutions are found. Our emergency housing is limited, and cannot be guaranteed for all students who request it. Some reasons why a student may be allowed to use emergency housing include:

  • Health or safety concern
  • Security issues (e.g. broken window)
  • Facilities issues (e.g. broken heater, flood)
  • Temporary housing insecurity

To request the use of emergency housing, students must contact Residence Life during business hours, or Community Safety dispatch after hours. A staff member will work with the student to determine if emergency housing is needed and available. If approved to utilize emergency housing, students will be directed on next steps. Students in emergency housing are expected to follow all staff instructions and guidelines, as well as those outlined in the housing contract.

If emergency housing is not available, staff will do their best to help the student problem solve other solutions.
