Description: Damage to Property
Location: The Grove Dorms

Notes: CSOs on patrol near the Grove residence halls saw a large tree branch being dragged behind a quick moving contractor’s truck. The CSOs contacted the foreman on site to alert them to the incident and the tree damage.

Notes: An individual called CS to request that their car not be towed, as it had to be left parked on campus overnight. They were concerned that would result in it being towed. Community Safety assured the party that, as the vehicle was parked legally, it would not be towed.

Description: Damage to Property
Location: Northwest Quadrant

Notes: A CSO on patrol in the northwest quadrant of campus observed that the cover to the base of a light pole had been removed and it appeared that an electrical cord had been connected to the A/C power inside the pole. The CSO followed the cord to where it ended in some nearby bushes. It was not connected to anything at the time. Facilities was contacted and arrived on scene to safely remove the cord and reaffix the base’s cover.

Description: Suspicious Person/Activity/Circumstances
Location: Birchwood Apartments

Notes: CSOs responded to the Birchwood apartments when a local business reported suspicious activity. CSOs began checking apartments. One of the apartment doors was not locked properly so the CSOs along with the CS Director tried to secure the apartment. An unknown individual was seen leaving the apartment. The CSOs called the Portland Police Bureau to assist.

These responses are always collected anonymously with the option for the responder to leave contact information if they would like for a member of Community Safety management to contact them, and are used internally for departmental performance tracking. Community Safety has opted to publish these survey results for transparency and community accountability. *Names and pronouns mentioned in survey responses will be redacted to protect the privacy of individuals.

In addition to surveys sent directly to those who have interacted with Community Safety, the Reed community is always encouraged to independently complete the survey regarding Community Safety's performance.
