John Simon Guggenheim Fellowships
Approximately 225 fellowships are awarded annually through two separate competitions (U.S. and Canada, and Latin American and the Caribbean) to men and women who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or creative ability in the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. Appointments are made for no less than six months, but typically for one year's support of research in any field of knowledge, or creation in any of the arts, under the freest possible conditions and irrespective of race, color, or creed. Funds are determined in accordance with each fellow's needs, and in support of the purpose
and scope of each fellow's plans.
