Welcome to the Division of Student Life!

Student Life works directly and collaboratively with students to provide guidance and resources designed to optimize the quality of student life and student success in and beyond the classroom.

The mission of Student Life is to promote student success and wellbeing, and to foster an inclusive Reed community.

Student Life supports Reed’s educational mission

  • by providing information, guidance, and resources;
  • in collaboration with students, staff, faculty, alumni, and other community partners;
  • through sponsoring comprehensive programs and services;
  • in order to enhance learning in and beyond the classroom.

The Student Life Office coordinates a comprehensive network of student support and addresses concerns for students. The staff in the Student Life Office serve as a resource for students and community members to address challenges and advance ideas for positive change.

Academic Support

The Office of Academic Support offers peer tutoring, writing support, workshops, and individualized coaching to enrich and support students in their academic experience.

Athletics, Fitness & Outdoor Programs

Athletics, Fitness and Outdoor Programs oversees Reed’s Physical Education Department, club sports, the Reed ski cabin, Gray Fund recreational events, and the Reed Outing Club.

Community Safety

Community Safety provides campus and safety services 24 hours a day, including emergency response, door unlocks, and escort services. Community Safety Officers are trained staff available to receive, investigate, and respond to safety and security concerns.

Community Wellness

Community Wellness sponsors health promotion through the Peer Health Advocate and Night Owl programs. These student-driven programs sponsor events and workshops to educate the Reed community on stress management, mental health, physical activity and harm reduction.

Disability & Accessibility Resources

Disability & Accessibility Resources (DAR) works with students and faculty to determine appropriate academic accommodations and services for students with documented disabilities. DAR staff provide services and resources intended to facilitate equal access and opportunity for students with disabilities to participate in College programs, activities, and services.

Health & Counseling Center

The Health and Counseling Center (HCC) offers counseling, medication consultation and management, primary care medical services, and an array of wellness services including consultation for stress management.

International Student Services

International Student Services supports international students through resources and programs that help international students acclimate to life in the United States and thrive at Reed, while also facilitating their ability to share their diverse cultures with the rest of the college community.

Residence Life

Residence Life coordinates placement in on-campus housing, community-focused programming, and a safe and welcoming environment for students in the residence halls.

Restorative Practices

Restorative Practices responds to student conduct under the auspices of relevant Reed codes and governing documents.  Its staff serves as a resource for the Reed community regarding bringing the Honor Principle to community conversations in a consistent and educationally purposeful manner.

Sexual Health, Advocacy & Relationship Education (SHARE)

The SHARE program provides training for students and employees on a wide range of issues, including prevention and intervention education, and offers confidential advocacy for students who have experienced sexual or relationship misconduct.

Student Engagement

The Student Engagement office strives to nurture cross-campus involvement and to foster the intentional development of the whole student through support of student groups and programs, such as Orientation and Gray Fund cultural events.

Title IX / Section 504

The Title IX / Section 504 Coordinator works to stop, prevent, and remedy discrimination on the basis of both sex and gender, and disability, within the Reed community. The Coordinator works across campus to support college policies and procedures consistent with state and federal laws in these areas, and strives to further educationally purposeful conversations that are supportive of all members of the community.
